2. WrestleMania 34: Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle Versus Triple H and Stephanie McMahon
There probably should be an asterisk next to this match, if only because Ronda Rousey had already signed a contract prior to the match. In essence, she was not a celebrity wrestling at WrestleMania 34, but a full-time superstar.
Still, Rousey was a novice when she teamed up with Kurt Angle to take on the ultimate WWE power couple of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. The four had one of the best – albeit heavily scripted and rehearsed – celebrity matches ever, with tension built throughout the match, leading to Rousey finally exploding on Triple H and ultimately destroying McMahon and tapping her out with an armbar.
The match really stands as a testament to everyone playing their parts perfectly when you consider how broken-down Angle was, that Triple H was a pure part-timer, and that Stephanie had only wrestled twice since 2003. Still, the drama was off the charts, and it kicked off one of the greatest rookie years in WWE history, with Rousey winning the Raw Women’s Championship just four months later.
