Ranking All 21 WWE WrestleMania Intercontinental Title Matches

7. The Ultimate Warrior Vs. Rick Rude (WrestleMania 5)

If anyone can think of a good Warrior match prior to his title loss to Rude, by all means, share it. Not to discredit Warrior any, as time has shown him to be a tremendous performer with the right opponent and circumstances, but he hadn't shown it much before the spring of 1989. Rude, gifted as a worker and a character, would help get the most out of Warrior. What we see is a match that plays to Warrior's strengths, giving him beats of rest between explosive offensive outbursts, and moments of vulnerability to build Rude up. They would top this match with an incredible showing at SummerSlam later that year, but the WrestleMania battle was a strong outing from two increasingly-reliable company aces.
