Ranking All 30 Of The Undertaker's WWE Years From Worst To Best
5. 2009
The year that gifted 'Taker with the greatest match of his career, 2009 will always be best-remembered for the absolute classic he put on with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 25. A match that is rightfully considered one of the (if not the) greatest matches of all time, it was the culmination of 'Taker's years of evolving in a bid to reclaim his former glory - something he was already doing in the three years prior to this.
However, there was so much more to 2009 than just that unforgettable bout, as 'The Demon of Death Valley' returned from a long summer hiatus to immediately insert himself in the World Championship program. Though his match with the champion CM Punk paled in comparison to the classic these two would have four years later, it kick-started the beginning of what was, as of writing, his final reign as World Champion.
Holding the gold for five months, 'The Deadman' enjoyed the longest (and most successful) title reign of his career, as he defended it in Triple Threats, Fatal 4-Ways and even a Chairs Match against the likes of Punk, Big Show and Chris Jericho, Batista and Rey Mysterio.
'Taker spent much of the decade attempting to rediscover that versatile, daredevil 'Deadman' within and, as he successfully did so, it was only fitting that he closed it out as World Heavyweight Champion.
