A credible World Champion by the time his 2008 rivalry with Shawn Michaels dragged a top title into the dispute, Jericho's runs with the WWE Championship were less impressive.

A false dawn in 2000 was arguably the highlight of his time with the title. On that night, Triple H took the strap back on a technicality, but few mourned the end of a lousy 2001-02 reign when the pair tangled again at WrestleMania X8.
