17. Ultimate Warrior

WWE Champions

Believably pitched as the replacement for Hulk Hogan (long before 'The Hulkster' himself was completely ready to abdicate the throne), Ultimate Warrior seemingly stood as good a chance as anybody of filling the void left by Hogan during a 1990 sojourn to Hollywood.

Vince McMahon's fantasy didn't quite match the reality. Though his business was already experiencing a minor downturn, Warrior on top did nothing to plug the leak. By the time Hogan made his summer return, plans were already coming together for him to reascend at 1991's WrestleMania VII.
