Ranking Conor McGregors' Next Opponent From Least To Most Likely

The greatest defensive boxer of all time is constantly in the mix to be McGregor's next opponent as their unavoidable 'Money Fight' dominated headlines across the world for most of the year back in 2017.

Mayweather would win via 10th round TKO in what was a much more competitive fight than many anticipated, but still saw Mayweather handily outbox 'Notorious'. The rematch was meant to be held in an Octagon, but it ultimately saw Floyd dance in the cage on a few Instagram stories before the plan fizzled out.

Floyd keeps on teasing fans with the rematch posting on his social media as recently as 19 January of his intent to do so. McGregor likewise throws out occasional empty attempts to gain interest in the fight.

It would be difficult for people to be genuinely intrigued in a rematch in boxing as Mayweather was so dominant in their initial fight. It would be a good excuse for the two men to line their pockets, but unless it is in an Octagon then McGregor will once more end up in a situation where he is out of his comfort zone.

Dana White's much-publicized anger at Showtime for their shady tactics while promoting the fight means the chances of a boxing match under the same rules and companies as before is non-existent.

If Zuffa boxing finally rises from the grave, however, this is undoubtedly the fight they will aim to make.

It's just a little too early for McGregor-Mayweather II to become reality.
