Ranking Every AEW Championship Reign Of 2023
4. Luchasaurus & Christian Cage - AEW TNT Championship
Whilst technically two runs, it's fair to say that Christian winning the belt from Luchasaurus was more a formality than anything. The big guy was champion in name only, Cage was the one holding the title in a directly literal sense. Overall, it was pretty funny to have Christian's heater win the belt and Cage act like it belonged to him but, more broadly, it made the belt feel more desirable.
In the long run, the change was necessary. Delusions of grandeur are funny, but Cage as a character needed to actually win the title to be able to put his stamp on it properly. And, it seems, it might play out as part of a story between the two.
Neverhtless, with the "patriarch" of AEW being one of the most easily detestable heels, it's made the TNT title a more interesting prospect. Christian cheats to win or snakes his way out of confrontation in order to keep his grubby mitts on a title that feels markedly less meaningless compared to most of the year.
