Ranking Every Kenny Omega AEW Championship Defence From Worst To Best

3. Vs. Christian Cage (AEW All Out 2021)

Really, Kenny Omega and Christian Cage's World Title clash from All Out was a spectacular display of intense professional wrestling.

Its low ranking can be placed upon what happened after the fact, in which their spotlight was stolen, almost justifiably, by the shock arrivals of both Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson. These debuts were simply too large to be usurped in popularity by such a standard Kenny Omega bout.

Nonetheless, Omega vs. Cage was an All Out-quality main event. It wasn't Omega vs. 'Hangman' Adam Page, so the traditional Twitter discourse will say otherwise, but believe it or not, AEW had booked a solid replacement in lieu of Page's paternity leave.

It was as hard-hitting as it was technically laid out like a piece of modern art. For every Christian Cage Spear off the ring apron and through a table, there was a Kenny Omega V-Trigger, packed with such intensity that it could have legitimately dislocated the then-IMPACT World Champion's jaw. Each bicycle knee was more vicious than the one before because he wore the 'Instant Classic' down enough before ever attempting the One-Winged Angel.

That the match-ending sequence saw an OWA from atop the turnbuckles got over the fact that the match did indeed matter. It wasn't only a replacement challenger; it was the culmination of an already-forgotten, yet important AEW story arc.
