Ranking Every Major CM Punk AEW Match - From Worst To Best
4. Vs Adam Page (Double Or Nothing 2022)
Seeing CM Punk lift World Championship gold again was something very few honestly imagined would be possible even just a few years before Double or Nothing 2022.
And while the events that would follow this Las Vegas main event would very much overshadow the surreal visual of 'The Best in the World' holding a company's top title again, that doesn't change the fact that CM Punk vs. 'Hangman' Adam Page was one of the most intriguing show-closers in AEW history.
In the wake of the champ "going into business for himself" in Punk's eyes, the 'Chick Magnet' would eventually confess to the pair's PPV fight being "poisoned" by the real-life drama and feeling he produced a "garbage match" in the end. But that couldn't be further from the truth.
Sure, that pair of botched Buckshot Lariat's from the challenger haven't aged well in the slightest. But that genuine animosity ultimately helped elevate this into a hard-hitting epic over the biggest prize in the game.
The drama was overflowing in everything from 'Hangman's increasingly destroyed knee to the desperate champ very nearly resorting to a Belt-Shot Lariat to keep his place amongst the elite.
And it was that former issue that finally gave Punk the opening he needed, with a heartbreaking stutter mid Buckshot leading to a title-winning GTS.
