Ranking Every Randy Orton Vs. Triple H WWE Match Ever
2. The Bash 2009
Only a small handful of Three Stages of Hell matches have ever been held in WWE, so if there was anything worth watching again from the ultra forgettable Bash pay-per-view in June 2009, it was this epic encounter.
For those unfamiliar, a Three Stages of Hell match is basically a 2-out-of-3 Falls match, except every fall has a different stipulation. In this instance, the first fall was contested under normal rules, it was Falls Count Anywhere for their second mini match, and then they fought in a stretcher matchup for the third fall.
The first fall was simply a means to an end for Triple H, who intentionally got himself disqualified within minutes so he could quickly pin Orton two minutes later to even the score in the second fall. The third fall was when they really kicked it up a notch and contested one of the most brutal stretcher matches fans had seen in years.
Despite it being RKOs and Pedigrees galore, nothing seemed to be enough to put either of them away.
The interference from the rest of The Legacy was predictable but was thankfully kept to a minimum until the end. Orton had to prove he could hold his own in a pay-per-view main event against an elite competitor such as Triple H, and after beating him in convincing fashion here, it's safe to say he succeeded.
