Steeped in angle early doors thanks to the attack on Nikki Bella before the SmackDown captain could even enter the ring, the remainder of the match played out logically thanks to unusual loyalty shown by the booking towards the performers.

Like the ending, the beginning was all about build. Bella and Natalya's eventual programme burst into life here, resulting in the (actually very good) match being set dressing for the bigger picture.

Fighting for "brand supremacy" they may well have been, but the babyfaces and heels were kept as such throughout and following the battle's slightly overdue conclusion.

Having seen off the blue brand's biggest stars Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss last of all to take the win for Monday Night Raw, Charlotte Flair and Bayley were back at odds almost immediately after the bell rang. 'The Queen' decked 'The Hugger' to expedite their impending Raw Women's Championship feud.
