Dross built upon the dross that came before it, AJ Styles' victory over bumbling buffoons Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn wasn't without worthy work in places but the storyline issue between the three was so tepidly tacked-on to a confused Daniel Bryan/Shane McMahon SmackDown Live power struggle that it never stood a chance of achieving more than the bare minimum.

Foreshadowing an uneven year for AJ and a disastrous one for "Kami", the match didn't live up to tempered expectations. Seeing all three left with the scraps of a feud gone wrong incubated a growing disappointment in all of them.
