Ranking Every Second Generation Wrestler In NXT
1. Santos Escobar
When WWE signed Jorge Luis Alcantar Bolly, they almost immediately obscured his bloodline by renaming him Santos Escobar.
Escobar was formerly known as El Hijo del Fantasma, an honorific that proudly links him to his father, Fantasma, a luchador styled after the Phantom from the popular comic strip of the 1950s. The elder Bolly is now the the head of the Mexico City Boxing and Professional Wrestling commission, and his son carried on his tradition of high-paced work in CMLL and AAA. But it was in Lucha Underground where Escobar became known to most of the international wrestling community. Working as King Cuerno, a sadistic hunter who sought the promotion's champions as quarry, Escobar came into his own, developing a quick-striking style.
The Cuerno character is still alive today in Escobar, who competes with similar ruthlessness. But Escobar is slick. As the leader of Legado del Fantasma, he's a cunning businessman who uses his family legacy as a tool to recruit and maintain power in NXT and on 205 Live. He's currently in his first reign as NXT Cruiserweight Champion, and if the charismatic work he's produced so far is any indication, it won't be long until this blue chipper is called up to Raw or SmackDown.
