Ranking Every Sole Survivor In WWE Survivor Series History
21. Andre The Giant (Survivor Series 1987)
Being the first sole survivor should count for a lot but Andre The Giant had a somewhat tainted victory at the inaugural Survivor Series in 1987.
A colossal main event pitted the team of Hulk Hogan, Bam Bam Bigelow, Paul Orndorff, Ken Patera, and Don Muraco against Andre The Giant, One Man Gang, King Kong Bundy, Butch Reed, and Rick Rude. This was the Hulkamania-era but there was a shock as Hogan was eliminated midway through the match via count out. The Hulkster tried to protest but he risked his team forfeiting the match altogether.
This left Bam Bam Bigelow to fend for himself and he did so valiantly. The Beast From The East saw off both Reed and One Man Gang, but unfortunately, Andre was just too big of an obstacle for to tackle and Bam Bam was eventually eliminated after a butterfly suplex.
Andre should have been left to celebrate in the ring on his own - after all he had just won the first ever Survivor Series main event. But oh no...Hogan had to get the last laugh, and ran down to the ring to beat up The Giant and act like the winner. Not even the first ever sole survivor was allowed to outshine Hogan. Shame.
