Ranking Every Transitional WWE World Champion From Worst To Best
1. The Rock
So good (and so believable) as the company's top man all over again that this specific run is rarely considered transitional, The Rock was the man in the top spot because he absolutely had to be.
It wasn't just about 'The Great One' being the best one to lose to Steve Austin following his dramatic return the prior year, but about the fact that WrestleMania X-Seven could only be headlined with a clash between the era's biggest stars.
Rock relieved Kurt Angle in February, and though Angle and 'The Rattlesnake' would have quality bouts later in the year, 2001's 'Show Of Shows' was a toast to the incredible era that birthed it. No two other performers across the entire industry could have justified this specific spot.
