Ranking Every Woman To Have Held The WWE NXT Women's Championship

7. Ember Moon

Ember Moon appeared to be primed to hand Asuka her first defeat in NXT and dethrone her as NXT Women's champion at the onset of 2017... until she didn't.

Her loss to The Empress of Tomorrow at TakeOver: Orlando was certainly surprising, but not as surprising as her second loss in the rematch at TakeOver: Brooklyn III. She was finally able to take home the title at TakeOver: WarGames, albeit by winning a Fatal 4-Way that didn't involve Asuka.

Of course, Moon was always going to pale in comparison to the champion Asuka was, but that didn't necessarily mean she was a poor champion by any means. She made the most of what she was given and successfully defended the title in solid matches with Sonya Deville and Shayna Baszler.

It was also during this time that Moon developed an actual character for herself and became more aggressive in the ring. By WrestleMania 34 weekend, the time had come for her to be called up to the grand stage of WWE, and at TakeOver: New Orleans, she was beaten for the belt by Baszler in an excellent affair.

Moon made her debut on the ever-electric post-WrestleMania Raw and therefore forfeited her automatic rematch clause for the championship. Aside from Baszler, she is the only former NXT Women's champion to not yet win a title on the main roster.
