1. Asuka

Very few champions in the history of WWE can say they went undefeated for their entire title reign. Even less can lay claim to having held their championship for as long as Asuka did from 2016 to 2017.

When Asuka arrived on the NXT scene in October 2015, everyone was aware it was a matter of when and not if she'd be NXT Women's champion. Sure enough, she knocked off Bayley in an exceptional outing at TakeOver: Dallas to take the title before embarking on one of the most dominant runs any champion in WWE had ever seen.

Her long list of challengers included Bayley, Nia Jax, Mickie James, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Ruby Riott, Nikki Cross and Ember Moon. Not only did Asuka overcome all of them to keep her undefeated streak intact, each match was memorable for different reasons. Her feud with Moon in particular was phenomenal, in addition to the historic-making Last Woman Standing she and Cross had on an episode of NXT.

The Empress of Tomorrow ruled NXT's women's division for over 500 days and didn't give up her grasp on the gold until vacating it in September 2017. Asuka left the black-and-gold brand without a single loss on her record and with many remarkable moments to her credit.

Although the length of Baszler's reign is creeping closer to Asuka's, not even The Queen of Spades brings the level of legitimacy Asuka did to the division.
