Ranking EVERY WrestleMania From Worst To Best
27. WrestleMania IX
Though better than received wisdom suggests, WrestleMania IX is still an objectively bad wrestling show. It offers much aesthetically at least, and is to fans of a certain age implanted in long-abandoned memories for the Roman Coliseum/Toga party hybrid knocked up in a Las Vegas car park.
Away from the glory of the gold and black ropes et al, the 1993 'Show Of Shows' fails to satisfy its remit - and knows it.
Hulk Hogan's main event hijacking leaves the sourest taste for the manner in which it preyed upon Vince McMahon's lingering insecurities, but the lack of oomph elsewhere on the card sort of suggests why it was there in the first place. Shawn Michaels and Mr Perfect have bad nights with Tatanka and Lex Luger respectively, Razor Ramon's victory over Bob Backlund is a horribly awkward clash of styles, whilst Doink's choice victory over Crush contained the sort of literal clowning that errantly reflected the organisation's eventual nadir.
