Coming off his phenomenal performance in the Cruiserweight Classic, Cedric Alexander would have been a much better choice to be the inaugural Cruiserweight champion over TJ Perkins.

Alas, he had to wait his turn, pay his dues and engage in dead-end feuds with the likes of Noam Dar and The Brian Kendrick for over a year and a half before getting his shot at super stardom at the onset of 2018. He was days away from becoming Cruiserweight champ at the Royal Rumble but had his opportunity taken away from him due to Enzo Amore's abrupt release from WWE.

However, his ultimate title victory meant that much more at WrestleMania 34 because of how he had to win an entire tournament to earn it. This was around the time the creative direction of 205 Live completely changed thanks to Triple H's vision for the show, and with Alexander at the helm as its champion, he was guaranteed to have the great reign he deserved.

Alexander's title defenses against the illustrious likes of Kalisto, Buddy Murphy, Drew Gulak and Hideo Itami were second to none. Even the match where he lost the belt to Murphy was a masterpiece and proved just how vital he was to the success of the show for the better part of that year.

The Cruiserweight Championship was what got Alexander to that next level in WWE and he hasn't looked back.
