Fighting for a shot at the WWE Title at WrestleMania 24, five of the six that entered the Chamber in the headline bout of 2008's 'No Way Out' Pay-Per-View were clear passengers in a contest manufactured to wedge Jeff Hardy into the main event of the 'Showcase of the Immortals'.

Following a surprising defeat by Randy Orton in his first WWE Title shot at January's 'Royal Rumble', Hardy hadn't lost any momentum in the aftermath, instead garnering even more support than fellow combatants Chris Jericho, Triple H and Shawn Michaels, as fans were desperate for the 'Charismatic Enigma' to ascend to the upper echelon.

However, yet more disappointment would follow for Hardy fans, as defeat to Triple H concluded an absorbing Chamber match, despite 'The Rainbow-Haired Warrior' being permitted to go move-for-move with 'The Game' and even kick out of a Pedigree in a breathtaking nearfall.

Jeff would eventually fall to a chair-assisted second Pedigree, which would prove remarkably fortunate for WWE when, just weeks later, Hardy ate a sixty day suspension for a Wellness Policy violation that saw him miss out on WrestleMania altogether.
