One of the truly epic WWE payoffs of all time, Smackdown's World Title Elimination Chamber match at the 2010 edition of the show was capped in heart-stopping fashion as The Undertaker looked set to retain his title as it broke down to a one-on-one between 'The Deadman' and the overmatched Chris Jericho.

Having been pushed to breaking point by his persistent failures to gain a WrestleMania rematch with The Undertaker (including an absolutely scintillating performance in the previous month's Royal Rumble), a gradually unravelling Shawn Michaels sunk to the ultimate depth to get his wish.

Entering through a hole in the Chamber floor, Michaels scored with Sweet Chin Music on the shattered Undertaker, remorselessly gifting his previously most hated recent rival the World Title. In a quiet rage on the post-show Monday Night Raw, Undertaker would give Shawn his desired clash, but with the proviso Michaels had to retire should he lose again.

Notably, 'Taker' himself nearly suffered real-life early retirement in the opening stages of this match.

Entering with his usual pomp, 'The Deadman' was struck by pyro shooting from the ground, briefly engulfing him in flames. Miraculously, he avoided any significant damage, but was given water to douse himself with before entering the chamber, and suffered minor burns to his face and chest.
