Ranking Every WWE Elimination Chamber Match In History
1. Shawn Michaels Vs. Triple H Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Kane Vs. Booker T Vs. Rob Van Dam (Survivor Series 2002)
After plenty of deliberation—and probably far too much time spent reordering things—the first-ever Elimination Chamber bout takes top spot on this list. That’s partly because it’s always difficult to top the original version of something, and partly because it was just a really high-quality match in itself.
Highlights included Rob Van Dam’s Frog Splash from atop one of the pods—which actually busted Triple H’s trachea—as well as Kane tossing Jericho through the purported ‘bulletproof’ glass.
Being the first match of its kind, obviously this one benefits from the novelty factor, meaning that when Jericho went through the ‘bulletproof’ glass it actually came as a something of a surprise.
Despite the throat injury, Triple H battled to the final two, where his supporting role was played to perfection in one of the most satisfying finishes of the modern era. Facing off with his one-time friend Shawn Michaels, HBK reversed a Pedigree and pulled out a last-gasp superkick—complete with a theatrical, pirouetting pin attempt—to capture the World Heavyweight Championship and just about blow the roof off of Madison Square Garden.
That finish, and the resultant scenes, are really what make this match stick in the memory. So much so that it just about makes up for Michaels' dodgy choice of attire for the occasion, as well as his even dodgier choice of hairdresser…
