Titles: World Heavyweight Champion, Tag Team Champion, Intercontinental Champion, United States Champion

Why isn't Chris Benoit dead last on this list? Because no matter how furiously WWE tries to keep his name scrubbed from the history books, it's impossible to forget the immense talent possessed by The Rabid Wolverine. And even an ending as tragic as his can't erase three decades of in-ring artistry.

In hindsight, it's easy to see why Chris Benoit was able to work his way to the top of the WWE ladder while fellow Radicalz Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko eventually fell to the wayside: He had the muscly physique Vince McMahon adored and nearly every match was a thing of beauty.

There may not have been a better Intercontinental Champion in the 2000s than Benoit. His feuds with Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho for the title are still rightfully regarded as classics, and his program with Rob Van Dam deserved a bigger spotlight. Toward the end of his career, he proved he could pull great matches out of everyone from MVP to Orlando Jones during his various clashes for the United States Championship.

His crowning achievement was obviously winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XX just before his best friend, Eddie Guerrero, won the WWE Championship.

And no amount of scrubbing by the WWE will ever be able to erase that beautiful image of the two embracing and raising each other's hands in victory.
