Ranking Every WWE Money In The Bank PPV - From Worst To Best
6. 2012 - Match Of The Night, Middle Of The Card
Hardcore fans the world over rejoiced in 2012 when CM Punk took on Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship, in a no disqualification match refereed by AJ Lee, that proved every bit as good as you’d expect from such a cast.
Of course, there’s more to a show than just the one match. In terms of the overall event itself, the PPV seemed to be hurt slightly by some strange ordering decisions throughout the night.
Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship arrived prematurely as the second match on the bill (incidentally, the opener had been the SmackDown Money in the Bank match, so the secondary status of the big gold belt and the SmackDown brand was well-and-truly reaffirmed here) and that indie wet dream between Punk and Bryan was placed slap bang in the middle of the evening’s proceedings.
Meanwhile, the main event spotlight was reserved once again for John Cena, who seized the Raw Money in the Bank briefcase—and in a slightly sloppy finish at that. Add in a couple of relative non-events, namely a Ryback handicap match and a six-woman tag match lasting less than three-and-a-half minutes and again, and you've got a show out-shined by most of the rest.
