Ranking Every WWE Money In The Bank PPV - From Worst To Best
5. 2013 - Money In The Bank Channels The Spirit Of ECW
There was something of an old ECW theme to the 2013 Money in the Bank PPV. Not necessarily in terms of hardcore action, but with regards to the personnel involved.
First off, we had Rob Van Dam making his return to the company as one of six participants in a star-studded Raw Money in the Bank ladder match, before another former ECW man—this time the head honcho himself, Paul Heyman—made possibly the biggest impact of the evening.
Heyman interfered in that aforementioned ladder match to cost CM Punk the victory, and in doing so set the wheels in motion for Punk vs. Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam that year. That then allowed Randy Orton to pick up the pieces and claim the briefcase, in another development that would have major repercussions at that year's SummerSlam.
On top of the great main event, we saw SmackDown boldly stage an all-heel ladder match, in which Cody Rhodes effectively pulled off the most organic of face turns before cruelly falling at the final hurdle. However, John Cena vs. Mark Henry and Alberto Del Rio vs. Dolph Ziggler in the two world title bouts were hardly classics, so it’s difficult to regard the overall PPV as one of the absolute best in the Money in the Bank chronology.
