There aren’t too many positives to take from John Cena’s run with the Money in the Bank briefcase, other than the fact that he stayed true to his character by announcing his cash-in ahead of time.

The very next night after winning the briefcase, Cena announced that he’d be cashing in the following week at the landmark Raw 1,000 show. There, he faced CM Punk for the company’s top prize and while the end result saw Cena’s technically announced the winner, the decision came via a disqualification, which prevented Punk’s title from changing hands.

That condemned Cena to an unwanted Money in the Bank record of his own, as it made him the first man in history to cash-in his opportunity and fail to take home a title off the back of it. Adding in the fact that his stint with the briefcase was one of the briefest in history at a mere eight days, and for once we’re seeing Cena amongst the worst in class.
