Damien Sandow actually held the Money in the Bank briefcase for a fair amount of time, clocking in a solid 106 days before going after John Cena’s World Heavyweight Championship.

The bulk of those 106 days saw Sandow feud with his one-time partner Cody Rhodes, in an entertaining rivalry that saw Sandow’s briefcase dramatically tossed into the Gulf of Mexico. And yes, Sandow ended up taking a dip too. Another memorable feature of his reign was the custom leather briefcase itself, a subtle touch which fit his character down to an absolute tee.

Still, despite all that, Sandow’s reign will ultimately be remembered as a failed endeavour, because when he did get around to cashing in on Cena, his efforts ended in defeat. Cena, wrestling with one arm due to a legitimate elbow injury, overcame the odds in typical fashion and promptly saw off the challenge of Sandow for reasons that still this day remain unknown to many an onlooker—this one included.
