4. Backlash

A lot of people may be surprised to see Backlash beat out WrestleMania here, but there's one simple reason why: Edge vs. Randy Orton. No, it wasn't the "Greatest Wrestling Match Ever", and yes, parts of it were painstakingly re-shot to ensure it was as watertight as possible, but it was epic to watch.

Elsewhere on the show, Drew McIntyre pulled something worthwhile out of regular snore Bobby Lashley, Sheamus vs. Jeff Hardy was a sleeper hit and the opening Triple Threat for the Women's Tag Titles zipped along and opened the card nicely. If you're into three-hour pay-per-views that give everything room to breathe, then this is one for you.

Things did sag a little in the middle with the Universal Title handicap write-off and Asuka vs. Nia 'Look Out For The Steel Steps' Jax, but Backlash was a capable event that must've felt good for WWE. In particular, it would've felt amazing for Edge. This was a personal proving ground for him, and he smashed it.

The less said about that Street Profits and Viking Raiders scenario the better though.
