Here’s a show swaths of people have a hard time agreeing on, especially in regards to two marquee matches. From this writer’s perspective... it was fine. It was a perfectly serviceable wrestling card that had an incredibly bonkers ending.

Starting the show was Ziggler and Nakamura in Nak’s first main roster PPV. While Nakamura’s handling on the main roster could be better, this was a fine professional wrestling match that was likely a victim of its own hype. From there, we had an entertaining match from the Usos/Breezango, and a surprising victory for Sami Zayn over Baron Corbin. The six-woman tag was harmless, if a bit pointless (story of the SmackDown women’s division), and AJ Styles and Kevin Owens... this was another difficult one. It was one of the more creative countout finishes in recent memory, and in-ring, it was match of the night, but a count-out on a PPV is still a count-out on a PPV, and thus, dampened the enthusiasm of many watching.

And then, of course, there was Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton, which was surprisingly a much better contest than most had anticipated. Still, given Jinder’s out-of-nowhere push, all anyone could do was see this match’s existence as an absurdity, not to mention the fact Jinder won the dang title. It’s still stunning to many that Jinder is holding the most coveted prize in wrestling, and this show was the ground zero of the shockwave.
