Hulk Hogan became a WrestleMania opponent in-waiting years before the stipulation actually existed with a win in this inoffensive Rumble. But then, itt was perhaps destined to come across as middle-of-the-road following The Ultimate Warrior's loss to Saddam Hussein fan Sgt Slaughter earlier in the night.

With a crowd aghast at the Iraqi sympathiser's WWE Championship victory, the pieces fell well for the 'Real American' to claim his second Rumble win in a row. Unfortunately, not a great deal else had heat until he arrived.
