An okay Royal Rumble match remembered more for its catastrophic booking, 2014's edition kicked off a cursed run for the gimmick and Roman Reigns' participation within it.

The lack of Daniel Bryan, pathetic elimination of CM Punk and exhausted victory for Batista overshadowed a strong display for 'The Big Dog', and marked one of the last times he was supported in protest, rather than despised.
