Having won the 1993 Royal Rumble, Yokozuna set himself up with a shot at Bret Hart's WWF Championship at WrestleMania IX.

The match was solid but nothing more, as the bout largely consisted of Yokozuna rest holds as he shot down the spirited offense of the Hitman. Bret had some good fire to his attempts to take down Yoko, and it was smartly done how a meeting with an exposed turnbuckle felled the kayfabe Japanese star in order for Hart to apply his patented Sharpshooter.

That submission would be broken up by Mr. Fuji throwing salt in Hart's eyes, which in turn allowed for Yokozuna to roll up the Excellence of Execution in a match that didn't even last nine minutes.
