Ranking Every WWE UK PPV Ever
11. Capital Carnage 1998
One of the biggest grievances that many British fans had about these PPVs was WWE's instance on mentioning British stereotypes. These either consisted of Jerry Lawler talking about fish 'n' chips on commentary, or a cringeworthy segment featuring D'Lo Brown in a black cab.
Sometimes a British celebrity would also be involved. At Capital Carnage in December 1998, it was the turn of footballer/actor/hard man Vinnie Jones, who was scheduled to be the enforcer for the main event. Before that match even started, Jones cut an awful promo and got into a scuffle with the Big Bossman, for which he was shown a red card by Special Referee Gerald Brisco. It was all very embarrassing, and Jones' ill-advised turtleneck jumper only made the debacle look worse.
After Steve Austin won the match, which was a Fatal 4-Way also including Kane, Mankind, and The Undertaker, Jones returned to kick Bossman a few more times. Following that, he celebrated in the ring with Austin and the two acted like they had been best mates forever. For any lucky soul who happens to own The Condemned on DVD, there is a special feature where Austin and Jones look back on this moment with misty eyes.
Beside that, this was a card full of random matches like Gangrel vs. Al Snow, and Tiger Ali Singh vs. Edge. There was also a WWE Championship match between The Rock and X-Pac of all people. A very strange show, to say the least.
