Ranking Hulk Hogan's WWE Returns From Worst To Best
5. Hulk Hogan Returns To WWE - SmackDown (23 January 2003)
Hogan's memorable 2002 run came to an end when he was brutalized by Brock Lesnar. The assault put him out of action and, as far as fans were concerned, it was the last we would see of him for the foreseeable future. But like he had so many times before, he shocked the WWE Universe with an unexpected return in January 2003.
Showing up as General Manager Stephanie McMahon's special surprise, Hogan received one of the longest standing ovations in WWE history from the SmackDown audience. In fact, the crowd showed so much respect for the legend that the broadcast had to cut to commercials, and when it returned, they were still screaming for The Hulkster.
Returning from injury at 49 years old, he was probably nervous about stepping foot in the ring. But the rapturous applause showed him that Hulkamania was still alive and well, and it ended up making him quite emotional.
When he could finally get a word in, he announced that he had signed a new WWE contract, before punching the disrespectful Vince McMahon in the face. This would lead to the pair's brutal clash at WrestleMania XIX — Hogan's last 'Mania match.
