Hogan's initial return to WWE saw him run wild with the nWo for a couple of months. But when things eventually fell apart for the team, it led to a face turn for him. Following his epic battle with The Rock at WrestleMania X8, he decided it was time to return to his roots.

The Immortal One was chosen to be Triple H's opponent at Backlash 2002, and as the WWE Champion spoke his name, the Hulkster's music hit and the crowd went berserk. But he wasn't wearing the black and white colors made famous by the nWo. For the first time in almost ten years, Hogan was sporting his iconic red and yellow colors in a WWE arena. And it was a picture that was so perfect, even Triple H cracked a smile as he watched his opponent approach.

With his red and yellow feather boas around his neck, Hogan strummed his way down the aisle and faced off with the champion in the ring. In that moment, he put The Game and the WWE Universe on notice: The Hulk Hogan of old had returned.
