Ranking John Cena's WrestleMania Matches - From Worst To Best

3. Vs. Triple H - WrestleMania XXII

Cena's first WrestleMania main event, this match is memorable for a variety of reasons. It was Cena's first great entrance as well, being driven to the ring by a collection of gangsters (including one CM Punk). The problem was that his entrance was overshadowed by Hunter's preposterous Conan the Barbarian-inspired arrival. This was also one of the first major examples of a crowd turning on Cena, choosing to cheer the hated-heel over the face of the company. The story was that HHH didn't truly take Cena seriously, and as such a large portion of the first half of the match is given over to Hunter laying a beating on Cena. In front of a different crowd this would have had the desired effect, but as this crowd detested Cena it sort of went the other way. Luckily, Cena packed his working shoes and put on an impressive performance whilst taking that beating. He worked his comebacks well, and got Trips to tap clean (for the 2nd time in three Manias no less) to the STF. The crowd were shocked, but it mattered little. Cena had proven himself once more.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
