4. Cody Rhodes' AEW Championship Stipulation

At Full Gear 2019, MJF cost Cody Rhodes in his AEW World Championship match with Chris Jericho, with the result meaning that The American Nightmare could never again challenge for the biggest prize in All Elite Wrestling. It felt like a bananas booking decision, given Rhodes's popularity at the time, and it kinda still does for 'Hangman' Adam Page, who also fell victim to this same stipulation after losing to MJF at this year's Revolution PPV.

There might be a clever angle around this stipulation that none of us have seen that is going to play out in Hangman's story, but the members of Reddit have a different theory when it comes to Cody Rhodes never winning the AEW World Title.

The theory is that Cody was always saving the story around "winning the big one" for WWE. When Cody finished his story at WrestleMania 40, it was as much about completing his family legacy, and Dusty never winning the WWE Championship, as it was the full-circle nature of his own journey to winning his first bona fide world championship. Would that win have had the same impact if Cody had enjoyed the pomp and circumstance of winning the AEW World Title a few years beforehand?

It's a solid theory, as not only did it give Cody Rhodes a great pitch for WWE to re-sign him, but it also gave him a main event scene storyline that avoided him being put back in the midcard scene if he did return to Vince McMahon's company.
