16. 2005 - Triple H Vs Batista

So good that it almost served as justification for the entire Triple H reign of terror that had polluted the prior few years of Monday Night Raw, Batista's breaking away from 'The Game' and unbeaten series against him draws subjective and objective acclaim.

Most that lived through it loved it for its patience in the build and violence in the payoff. Those that didn't need only look at the WrestleMania it headlined for evidence - 2005's edition of the 'Show Of Shows' was one of the most-bought ever.

The death of traditional pay-per-view ensures that record will stay in tact, but big numbers don't speak directly quality. While good, the pair's bruising battle at April's Backlash and bloodthirsty Hell In A Cell grand finale at June's Vengeance were even better.
