This was the feud that established both John Cena and Edge as potential main eventers for life, rather than the former being considered a one-hit wonder and the latter a dreaded "B+ Player".

Carrying multiple shows throughout the year and improving with every scrap, a TLC war in Toronto at September's Unforgiven was an epic conclusion to a series that started with a shock.

The inaugural cash-in of the Money In The Bank contract saw Edge end Cena's maiden Championship reign in January. When 'Big Match John' ended their run of title trades and secured the gold, 'The Champ' went on to be "here" for another 13 months.
