It was the biggest rivalry of the year, but that was the problem.
In John Cena Vs The Nexus had the opportunity to finally use 'The Champ's unassailable star power for good. Passing the baton rather than the torch, Cena had only to lose cleanly and conclusively to any of the men that donned that cursed "N" shirt in 2010 and the whole thing might have elevated approximately 10 new wrestlers.
Instead, he'd spend about 10 minutes a week making them look even newer than they were. Never outfoxed and - barring their exceptional and shocking introduction - never outfought, Cena made such light work of everybody from leader Wade Barrett downwards that the whole group were as good as dead before CM Punk's 2011 push put a bullet in them.
