Ranking Triple H's 19 WrestleMania Matches - From Worst To Best

8. Triple H Vs. John Cena Vs. Randy Orton (WrestleMania XXIV)

The Triple Threat match between Triple H, Randy Orton and John Cena at WrestleMania XXIV should have been so much better than it was. With that said, it was still an extremely well-wrestled match with intricately planned spots that fit perfectly within the context of the story being told. Orton was the champion, a young star targeted by the top two babyfaces on the Raw brand. Like most Triple Threat matches to occur in WWE, this one fell back on the old "one on the outside, two in the ring" formula crutch. Still, they tried to include spots that incorporated all three of them more than most similar bouts would. The finish of the match was creative in that Cena bounced back from attack, hit his diving shoulder tackles and even unloaded a Five Knuckle Shuffle. But The Game came right back with a spinebuster and Pedigree. Before he could capture the gold, though, Triple H found himself on the receiving end of a running punt to the head from Orton in a brilliant bit of match layout. Three seconds later and The Viper would retain his title, much to the dismay of his challengers. The match perhaps relied a little too heavily on tired three-way spots, and the trio would have much better matches in singles settings. For all of its weaknesses and flaws, though, the bout was still good enough to rank this high on the list.
