Ranking Triple H's 19 WrestleMania Matches - From Worst To Best

14. Triple H Vs. Randy Orton (WrestleMania XXV)

There are certain matches that one can look back on and realize how big a disservice they were done by WWE Creative. Triple H vs. Randy Orton in the main event of WrestleMania XXV is one of them. An intense hatred between them stemming from the assaults that Orton launched on the McMahon family, including The Game's wife Stephanie, fueled a rivalry that was deemed main event worthy by WWE. However, rather than allowing them to pay off the story with a hardcore street fight or no disqualification bout, the writing staff came up with a stipulation that disallowed any of that: if The Game got disqualified, he would lose the WWE Championship. Thus, the performers were suddenly handcuffed. They had no opportunity to maintain the level of intensity and chaos that had gotten them to that point. The result was a boring match met with great apathy from an audience burnt out by Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels and unmoved by the action unfolding before them. Considering the effort that went into the match by the writing staff, it was one of the bigger disappointments in recent WrestleMania history.
