That Mr. Perfect singlet was so iconic that audiences immediately conferred excellence on every wrestler who ever wore it. Most were savvy enough not to draw such a daunting comparison. Not so RVD; he was confident enough in his futuristic abilities to do so with a smug expression on his face.

One of the first wrestlers to wear kickpads - entire generations of talent stole them, and his Jerry Lynn match layout - RVD decorated his singlets in badass airbrushed designs. He looked like a straight-to-video martial artist, and that is very much a compliment: his specific brand of cool was so powerful that only he could have pulled it off.

One of a kind, indeed.
