Ranking WWE's 12 PPVs In 2014

11. Royal Rumble (January 26)

Best Matches: Bray Wyatt vs. Daniel Bryan Worst Match: Royal Rumble, Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar It was such a bizarre show and also one of the worst of the year. The right booking for the Rumble would have been to put Daniel Bryan in the Royal Rumble match and win it. Simple. Effective. Instead, he wasn't even in the match and it left a bad impression in a bad way. Even though Bryan wasn't in the Rumble match, he had a fantastic match in the opener with Bray Wyatt. The feud was built up very well, so the crowd was hot for all of it. They worked a very physical style with Bryan showing a lot of heart while making his comebacks. These two went all out and they delivered the goods in terms of having an amazing match in the opener. Wyatt got the win, which was the biggest of his career at that point. The Rumble match was very average. All people are going to remember it is the Kofi Kingston crazy elimination tease spot that he does every year, Rey Mysterio getting booed at #30 because the fans wanted Bryan, CM Punk getting eliminated in what was his last time on WWE TV and then Batista drawing mostly boos after he got the win. It was a letdown. Orton/Cena was rejected by the fans and ended with Wyatt costing Cena the win to start their rivalry. The match that was listed as the worst was Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show because it only went about three minutes officially because Lesnar attacked before the match began. It was such a bizarre undercard too. The Bryan/Wyatt and Cena/Orton matches went 20 minutes each while Show/Lesnar as an angle went about ten minutes. The rest of it was just killing time before the Rumble match. Why not do a better midcard? That would have helped big time. The Royal Rumble is one of WWE's three biggest shows of the year, but they didn't do a good job of booking it this year. Let's hope it is better in 2015.
