NXT star Nikkita Lyons was pulled from this week's edition of SmackDown due to not being vaccinated.

It was revealed in a rather bizarre Shawn Michaels address online before the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX that NXT duo Zoey Stark and Lyons would be replaced by former NXT Women's Tag Team Champions Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne) in the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship tournament, with the latter pair taking on Natalya and Sonya Deville on this week's blue show.

Toxic Attraction would come out on top in the bout, progressing to the semi-final stage as they set their sights on Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah in the near future.

However, while it was revealed that Stark had suffered some sort of injury during her NXT Heatwave title showdown with Mandy Rose - believed to be a concussion - the reasons behind Lyons being unavailable weren't as clear.

Now though, Dave Meltzer's comments on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio have shed some light on the situation, with the reporter noting how Lyons had been removed from the contest due to not being able to enter Canada on the back of not being vaccinated for COVID-19.

Immigration regulations state that visitors to Canada must come equipped with documentation of their vaccination, something Lyons evidently didn't possess, therefore paving the way for Toxic Attraction's late addition to the tournament.
