Out of a sense of loyalty for helping take care of Stone Cold Steve Austin in late 2001, Vince McMahon uses his final pick of the draft to select Booker T and bring him to Smackdown. Book had just come off losing a match to Edge at WrestleMania X8, but he is a former five time (five time) WCW Champion.
Book would eventually turn babyface and be one of the biggest rising stars in the company over the next year, leading to a World Championship match at WrestleMania XIX. Unfortunately, it won't be until he became King Booker in 2006 that he would eventually taste WWE World Championship gold.
Book would end up in the WWE Hall of Fame and as a commentator after retiring.
