Rebooking WWE WrestleMania 2000: 8 Ways To Make It Better

1. The Rock Vs. Triple H - WWE Title (Special Guest Referee Steve Austin)

Is there really any other option? This is the WrestleMania 2000 main event everyone wanted but got a month too late at (the admittedly thrilling) Backlash. I'm moving their singles showdown forward by a month to its rightful place as the show-closing mach at the Granddaddy of them All. As an added extra, Stone Cold Steve Austin - in the middle of recovering from major neck surgery - will be drafted in as the special guest referee, making sure there is a proper winner and that Stephanie and Vince McMahon (situated at ringside) can't influence the outcome. Which is exactly what they try and do, natch. Austin would be taken out (safely, mind - the man still has a broken neck!), allowing Vince and Steph to get involved. Unfortunately for Vince, his chair shot misses the intended target and clocks The Game. Coming to, Austin blasts Vince with a huge right hand and stomps a mudhole in him, before cracking his nogging with the steel. Stephanie tries to salvage things but runs straight into a Rock Bottom! This is enough to allow the Cerebral Assassin to regain his composure but, as he tries to level The Great One with a Pedigree, it is countered into a spinebuster, followed by a People's Elbow and a 1-2-3, counted by the Texas Rattlesnake himself. This is how WrestleMania 2000 should have finished. To add further intrigue, Austin shakes Rock's hand while handing over the WWE Title, pulling him back in close for a brief stare down before he goes off to celebrate. This provides an enticing hook and plants the seed for WrestleMania X-Seven's Rock/Austin main event. What do you think of this rebooking of WrestleMania 2000? Does it sound better or worse than the original event? How would you have done it differently? Please let us know in the comments below!
