Rebooking WWE WrestleMania X-Seven's Gimmick Battle Royal For Modern Times

10. La Resistance

WWE are no strangers to taking jabs at pop culture figures, but taking a jab at a whole country? That's bold even for them. In 2003, Rene Dupree and Sylvain Grenier debuted as "La Resistance"; a pair of "Frenchmen" who were portrayed as cowardly villains to get back at France for their refusal to take part in the Iraq war.

La Resistance were a pretty successful act with Dupree and Grenier winning the World Tag Team Championships once - Grenier would go onto win those belts three more times with the group's next member, a French-ified version of Rob Conway. Dupree split away from the team to feud with John Cena over the United States Championship throughout 2004 before the faction was dissolved entirely in 2005.

Whilst Grenier teamed with Conway for much longer than he did with Dupree, the original version of La Resistance is the one that we would have for this match. Whilst Grenier and Conway were presented as French-Canadian, the original version of the group were full-on French stereotypes with berets and French flags in abundance.

If that doesn't scream "Gimmick Battle Royal" to you, then you've clearly not understood the assignment.
