In the opening contest of the show, Jonathan Gresham went face-to-face...or at least face-to-chest with the 6’7 Punishment Martinez. Although genetics were not in the smaller man’s favour, fear was clearly not a factor as Gresham took the fight to Martinez from the opening bell.

Using his wits to get the better of his larger adversary, the quicker Gresham utilised his speed advantage to work over PM’s left knee, surprisingly gaining the upper hand for the majority of the bout despite the dramatic size difference. Martinez selling was particularly good throughout the match as the quicker more agile Gresham worked him over by blending some impressive acrobatics with leg submissions.

Trading aerial assault with powerful big man moves, the momentum of the match swung wildly in both directions as the match wore on, with Gresham returning to Martinez’s leg as his go-to last resort.

Despite the strong showing from Gresham, Martinez would cut off his opponent with a sickening powerbomb - “Last Ride” style - to the ring apron, before taking it home in-ring with the “Psycho Driver” version of the Kobashi’s Burning Hammer.

In typical heel fashion, Martinez continued the assault after the bell until Jay White came to Gresham’s aid, delivering a uranage suplex to the big man to send him packing and send a clear message at the same time.
