Released WWE Talent Trying To Have Non-Compete Clauses Waived
Some of those recently let go by WWE are trying to forgo the standard 90-day non-compete clauses.
With WWE’s latest round of releases haven taken place earlier this month, there’s now word that certain recently released talents are trying to get out of the 90-day non-complete clause that is commonplace is WWE contracts.
As per Fightful Select, multiple names have asked WWE if they can essentially ignore the 90-day non-compete clause that stops a wrestler from performing elsewhere for three months. Interestingly, the belief is that WWE has actually been open to this idea.
John Laurinaitis is the main WWE point of contact on this matter, with some talents asking for the entirety of the 90 days to be wiped out, while others are looking for the non-compete clause to simply be brought forward to end a few days early – seemingly in order to secure bookings for themselves.
WWE is currently said to be far more lenient and accommodating with these requests than in recent years. And one also has to remember, the company completely waived any sort of non-compete for Andrade when they finally granted him his release in March of this year.
The six talents – Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Ruby Riott, Lana, Santana Garrett and Buddy Murphy – who were released at the start of the month should see their 90-day non-compete clauses expire on 31 August.
